Guernsey made the decision to require pictorial health warnings on all cigarette packs on August 10, 2010. All cigarette packs sold in Guernsey were required to display a pictorial warning by August 10, 2011. Other tobacco product packages were required to display the warnings by August 10, 2012. The warnings cover 30% of the front and 40% of the back of packages. Fourteen warnings are used on cigarette packages.
On December 22, 2010, Guernsey amended their regulations and replaced one of the warnings (shown in the “testing and development” section below) with a warning that displays the UK Quitline telephone number. Arrangements were made to redirect callers to the Guernsey Quitline.
