Text-only health warnings were previously required to cover 30 percent of the front and 50 percent of the back of cigarette packages in Kenya. The warning text was displayed in English (front) and Kiswahili (back).

In December 2014, the Ministry of Health in Kenya issued new Tobacco Control regulations requiring pictorial health warnings on cigarette packages and wrappers. The pictorial warnings were required on packs in Kenya beginning September 2016.
